Never so close to the golden eagle!
I always check the weather forecast before heading out, and if I go hunting for eagles and birds of prey, I mostly look at the wind, rain and visibility. But projections, as we know, can be wrong, so last Sunday, I found myself in a completely dark landscape, with no wind and visibility reduced to 1-5 km away.
I stayed outside for a few hours seeing little or nothing, only a few kites and buzzards; so, at sunset, I gave up and reluctantly decided to go back home. I chose to lengthen the journey, however, making one last detour; who knows why…
And just after that intersection, where in theory I should have gone straight, a golden eagle landed on some trees about twenty meters from the road: it was a moment I took the camera from the passenger seat and managed to take three shots before the eagle flew away.
Unfortunately, it was too dark to get good images (Iso 6400, three stops overexposure), and post-production couldn’t work miracles either.
But what a breathtaking encounter!
