As I have already explained, for example, in the video about the mandarin duck, the more striking beauty of males in some species is not only due to the courtship/mating ritual, therefore to impress the females, but also to “attract” more the predators: while the males, more showy and colourful, will attract the predators, the females, often much more camouflaged, will be able to save themselves and, therefore, ensure the protection of the species.
