Airone bianco maggiore / Great egret

L’airone bianco maggiore (Ardea Alba) è il più grande e sicuramente il più bello tra gli Ardeidae presenti in Europa, con il suo bellissimo e candido piumaggio bianco. Può raggiungere un’altezza di 104 cm, un peso massimo di 1,5 kg e un’apertura alare di 170 cm, misure che sicuramente non lo fanno passare inosservato.

Abbastanza timido e riservato, come il suo fratello minore, l’airone cenerino, spesso non si lascia avvicinare e, volando via sempre nella direzione opposta, risulta molto difficile da fotografare, a meno che non sia impegnato a procurarsi il cibo, come in questo caso.

L’airone bianco è un uccello ancora raro in Svezia, seppur regolare, e lo si può principalmente trovare nella regioni meridionali, anche tutto l’anno. La prima attestata nidificazione è avvenuta nel 2012 e da allora si è affermato come uccello nidificante anche a queste latitudini.

In Italia, invece, il primo nido è stato individuato solo nel 1990.

The great white heron (Ardea Alba) is the largest and indeed the most beautiful among the Ardeidae present in Europe, with its beautiful and candid white plumage. It can reach a height of 104 cm, a maximum weight of 1.5 kg and a wingspan of 170 cm, measures that certainly do not make it go unnoticed.

Quite shy and discreet, like the smaller brother, the grey heron, he often does not let himself be approached and, always flying away in the opposite direction, is very difficult to photograph unless he is busy getting food, as in this case.

The white heron is still a rare bird in Sweden, albeit regular, and can be found mainly in the southern regions, even all year round. The first nesting took place in 2012, and since then, it has established itself as a nesting bird even at these latitudes.

In Italy, however, the first nest was acknowledged only in 1990.

      1. Diciamo che ora che si sono abituati a vederci e Nontirare non li cerca la distanza non è molta, considerando però che c’è il fiume che ci divide.
        Una ventina di metri.
