Finalmente ecco il “misterioso animale” che inseguivo da un mese e mezzo: il visone!

Non ne avevo mai visto uno in vita mia, quindi ero molto emozionato quando, un giorno mentre ero lì per cercare di fotografare le aquile, ho potuto quasi intravederlo attraverso la vegetazione; ma non mi bastava: dovevo vederlo bene, avere qualche scatto e fare un video!

Così è iniziato il mio inseguimento e il mio tempo, quasi quotidiano, trascorso su quella torre di avvistamento, ore e ore con il freddo e il vento che avevamo fino a pochi giorni fa. Volevo girare il video così tanto, e ho pensato che fosse un compito “facile”: se ci pensi, quanto potrebbe essere difficile? Il visone vive lì, questione di tempo e passerà, giusto?  Non proprio…

È stato un tempo di attesa infinito che, comunque, mi ha dato così tante opportunità di vedere e filmare tante altre meraviglie – come ho mostrato negli ultimi video – e questo è ciò che amo dello stare nella Natura! E poi, all’improvviso …

Mi nascondevo dal vento, impossibile da sopportare, dietro la torre a parlare con un altro fotografo, entrambi pensavano di andarcene di lì a poco per il troppo freddo. Poi ho notato, dietro il mio amico, qualcosa che si muoveva attraversando la stradina e saltando nel canale. Non riuscivo a capire cosa fosse, pensavo un’oca o un germano reale, ma poi ho potuto vedere il visone spuntare dall’acqua: wow, finalmente!

Ho sganciato la camera dal treppiede e sono saltato un paio di passi in avanti per avere una visuale migliore attraverso la vegetazione e sono riuscito a fare un paio di scatti quando, però, era già passato per poi scomparire di nuovo sott’acqua e ricomparire circa 50-60 m più avanti. Allora mi sono arrampicato in cima alla torre, ma senza alcuna speranza: quello che avrei potuto ottenere, pensavo, poteva essere solo un paio di scatti al posteriore del visone, non proprio il massimo.

Ma quel piccoletto è saltato fuori dall’acqua e ha deciso di tornare indietro, verso di noi, sul lato opposto del canale, dandomi la possibilità di più scatti: era lontano, era buio e dovevo spingere gli ISO fino a 4000 – 4500, ma… finalmente: ero così felice di riuscire a vederlo e  poterlo immortalare!

Questo, però, è stato il mio unico incontro con il visone, purtroppo: sono tornato giorno dopo giorno sperando di registrare un video, ma senza fortuna. Ora, come scrivevo un paio di giorni fa, è ora di passare a un altro compito. Ma tornerò!

Finally here is the “mysterious animal” that I have been chasing for a month and a half: the mink!

I had never seen one in my life, so I was very excited when, one day while I was there trying to photograph the eagles, I could almost see it through the vegetation; but it wasn’t enough: I had to see it well, get some shots and make a video!

Thus began my chase and my almost daily time spent on that watchtower, hours and hours with the cold and wind that we had until a few days ago. I wanted to shoot the video so much, and I thought it was an “easy” task: if you think about it, how difficult could it be? The mink lives there, a matter of time and it will pass, right?

Not exactly…

It has been an endless waiting time which, however, has given me so many opportunities to see and film so many other wonders – as I have shown in the last few videos – and this is what I love about being in Nature! And then, suddenly …

I was behind the tower hiding from the wind, impossible to bear, talking to another photographer, they both thought they were going to leave soon due to the too cold. Then I noticed, behind my friend, something moving across the alley and jumping into the canal. I couldn’t understand what it was, I thought a goose or a mallard, but then I could see the mink emerge from the water: wow, finally!

I unhooked the camera from the tripod and jumped a couple of steps forward to get a better view through the vegetation and managed to take a couple of shots when, however, it had already passed and then disappeared again underwater and reappeared about 50-60 m further on. So I climbed to the top of the tower, but with no hope: what I could get, I thought, could only be a couple of shots at the rear of the mink, not exactly the best.

But that little guy jumped out of the water and decided to go back towards us on the opposite side of the canal, giving me the option of more shots: it was far away, it was dark and I had to push the ISO up to 4000 – 4500, but … finally: I was so happy to be able to see it and be able to shoot it!

This, however, was my only encounter with the mink, unfortunately: I returned day after day hoping to record a video, but with no luck. Now, as I wrote a couple of days ago, it’s time to move on to another task. But I’ll be back!
