Avevo incontrato questa femmina di daino bianco, cieca da un occhio, un po’ di tempo fa: se ne stava seduta ai bordi della strada, per niente impaurita dai meno di 15 metri che ci separavano. Era sola, cosa molto strana soprattutto in questo periodo in cui le femmine sono riunite in branchi più o meno numerosi, e solitamente ancora con i piccoli dello scorso anno
L’ho rincontrata l’altro giorno, riconoscibile proprio per il suo problema all’occhio, a più di 20 km di distanza: ancora sola, ancora titubante e per niente impaurita, si è fermata lei a guardarmi, osservarmi, per molto tempo.
Come se avesse bisogno di compagnia.
Anche se spero sia, anche lei, solo un’anima solitaria..

I had met this white fallow deer female, blind from one eye, some time ago: she was sitting on the side of the road, not at all afraid of the less than 15 meters that separated us. She was alone, a very strange thing especially in this period in which the females are gathered in more or less numerous herds, and usually still with the young of last year
I met her the other day, recognisable by her eye problem, more than 20 km away : still alone, still hesitant and not at all afraid, she stopped at watch me, look at me, for a long time.
As if she needed company.
Even if I hope she is only a lonely soul too…
