Per ogni fotografo, arriva prima o poi il momento in cui si sente il bisogno di fare ordine tra le migliaia di foto salvate sul computer o su disco esterno: fare una cernita, eliminare il superfluo, rivalutare le foto e riclassificarle.
Già, perché essendo la fotografia una continua evoluzione (più si pratica, come ogni altra cosa, e più si migliora), si evolve anche il modo in cui il fotografo vede e valuta le proprie fotografie: quello che sembrava eccezionale qualche anno prima, adesso sembra quasi farci inorridire.
Personalmente mi piace dividere le mie foto in “buone”, ossia indicate per raccontare una storia, un avvenimento per esempio scrivendo un post, e “keepers” (da tenere), ossia quelle, sempre a mio avviso, migliori.
Non parlo a prescindere di “ottime” perché… beh, forse quelle sono solo utopia, lo scatto perfetto che forse non arriverà mai ma, come spiegavo qui, che ci stimola a continuare a fotografare.
Bene, tutto questo per dire che ho rivisitato e aggiornato il mio portfolio delle migliori foto della fauna selvatica, wildlife, scattate in questi anni: molti animali svedesi, alcuni italiani, tanti ricordi.
Ho scelto le migliori per animale, non sono in grado di scegliere la migliore tra tutte queste: c’è quella del mio primo incontro con il lupo, certo, che non sarà tra le più definite, ma che per me rappresentò un’emozione unica. Ma lo fu anche la mia prima foto all’aquila, anche se quella non è tra queste, non è tra quelle buone, ma non è finita neanche tra quelle scartate.
Insomma, alla fine, le foto sono sempre una cosa personale, e molto.
E queste racchiudono tanto di me, del mio tempo, della mia vita, di quello che sono…
E come nell’evoluzione della vita, cambierò io, cambieranno anche queste…

For every photographer, sooner or later the moment comes when one feel the need to tidy up the thousands of photos saved on the computer or on an external disk: make a selection, eliminate the superfluous, re-evaluate the photos and reclassify them.
Yes, because if photography is a continuous evolution (the more we practice, like everything else, and the more we improve), the way in which every photographer sees and evaluates his own photographs evolves too: those picture that seemed exceptional some years before, now it almost seems horrifying.
Personally I like to divide my photos into “good”, that are ok to tell a story, an event for example by writing a post, and “keepers”, that is those, always in my opinion, better.
Nevertheless, I do not consider any of my pictures as “excellent” because … well, maybe those are just utopia, the perfect shot that maybe will never come but, as I explained here, that encourages us to continue taking pictures.
Well, all this to say that I have revisited and updated my portfolio of the best wildlife photos taken in the last years: many Swedish animals, some Italians, many memories.
I chose the best ones for animal, I am not able to choose the best among all these: there is the one of my first encounter with the wolf, of course, that will not be among the most defined, but that for me represented a unique emotion . But it was also my first photo of the eagle, even if that is not one of them, it is not among the good ones, but it is not finished even among those rejected.
In short, in the end, photos are always a personal thing, and a lot.
And these contain so much of me, my time, my life, what I am …
And as in the evolution of life, I will change, these will change too…
